This talk will introduce the niche domain of mechanical puzzles - conundrums that are presented physically, welcoming manual experimentation and solving. Well-known examples from this fascinating domain include the Tangram and Rubik’s Cube. Lesser-known puzzles number in the tens of thousands and constitute a dazzling array of puzzle types. The speaker will explore the benefits of such tactile brainteasers, covering aspects of learning, health, and happiness, and suggest how one might make a productive lifelong hobby out of hands-on puzzling.
Make a Unique Coaster from Salvaged Broken Pieces
This unique piece is made from broken pieces from our failed experiments or past season collection, which would normally be thrown away but instead, it is salvage, put together, re-connect and it becomes whole and beautiful again. Ecobricks is a workshop that explores the situation of plastic waste in Singapore. Using used plastic, which can be contributed by participants, the workshop combines a hands-on session to transform everyday plastic waste into functional objects such as stools or tables. Participants will learn to understand how ecobricks are made and used, explore solutions to differentiate recyclable and non-recyclable materials that they come across in their lifestyle, and create a piece of furniture together to be given for a social cause.

Make Your Own Kalimba
A kalimba is an African musical instrument with a wooden soundboard and metal keys. Participants will learn to make one at this workshop using local wood. Its soothing sounds will be yours to keep. Participants will learn how to use a table saw, how to mark out on a material correctly, use a power drill, sanding techniques and finishing. (*If you have less than 15pax, we are still able to conduct the workshop. The minimum spend would be 15pax to start the class e.g. if you have 7pax, we will charge for 15pax. If you’d like to utilise our showroom space for some refreshments after your workshop, we offer a rate of SGD200/hour (U.P SGD250/hour). This rate only applies to the usage of the space. All refreshments and arrangements has to be self-provided.)

Upcycle coffee grounds into handicrafts in this creative, hands-on workshop. Participants will learn to repurpose coffee grounds into a type of clay, which you'll use to make either keychains or coasters.
Transform Ocean Plastic into Art
rePlastic Workshop offers insight into the ocean plastic conundrum and takes participants on a hands-on experience through the plastic recycling process. Participants make unique creations from both ocean plastic and post-consumer plastic waste. Bespoke workshops for events can be organised. (The session includes 45 mins of hands-on activity and 15 mins of sharing.)
