If you’re considering, or have been told to change your outdoor team activity plans because of the haze in the last few weeks, you’re not alone! We know that means more work for you, and it plainly sucks after all the effort into planning the perfect offsite, but hold it together - the event must go on, and we’re here to help!
Low visibility? Look no further!
We’ve pulled out a shortlist of some activities that can keep your team occupied indoors, while leaning into themes of sustainability and wellbeing that, respectively, allow participants to reflect on the environmental situation and help them express themselves.

Building a terrarium is a way of connecting with an idealised form of greenery, one that is a visual contrast to the image of burning peatlands that bring the haze. Perhaps it’s an ironic form of escapism and fantasy, given that just like the terrarium we can shield ourselves from warm and hazy outside conditions. In no way does this compare to the scale of the environmental hazard we’re facing, yet it’s a symbolic reminder of how responsible, mindful stewardship could possibly lead to better conditions.

One of the main drivers of the haze has been slash and burn agriculture, which is often borne out of commercial decisions or traditional practices that are detrimental to the environment. While there are multiple factors at play, we can look at our choices that are driving demand for agricultural goods, and consider understanding how else we can source our food without adding strain to the land and the air we breathe.
